Basics of training design
You are embarking on designing a training, and you want
to customize the experience for your audience. Although
the elements are generic to any training, they will help you
address key questions in combination with TDR attributes,
principles, proficiencies, and key concepts.
You will want to address:
p. 11
•
Opportunity: What is the context, occasion, or
prospect for potentially offering a training?
•
Participants: Who is the intended audience for the
training?
•
Setting and logistics: What is the setting for the
training? What do you need to set up, and how do you
want to structure the space for an effective training?
•
Outcomes: What is the overall purpose of the
training?
•
Content: What material will you include in, or exclude
from, the training to achieve your learning outcome?
•
Methods: How can you model the TD approach by
structuring the experience of the participants?
•
Agenda: How will you structure the flow of the
training event?
•
Delivery: How will you facilitate effectively,
confidently, and flexibly?
•
Evaluation: How will you evaluate the training?
•
Follow-on steps: How will you keep your participants
focused on what they learned?
