What material will you include in, or exclude from, the training to achieve your
learning outcome?
Once you have a good understanding of your audience, the setting, the amount of time you have, and you have developed
a training purpose and high-level outcomes at a particular proficiency level, you will need to make choices around the
content of the training.
To select the content, return to your purpose as your guide! It will help you make key choices as to what to include and
what to let go, given time constraints. You might want to look at other workshop agendas as references.
•
Step 1: Select the appropriate level of proficiency that your training will aim at.
•
Step 2: Familiarize yourself with the range of learning outcomes in the proficiencies section using the Know/
Do/Be framework, and relate them to the training outcomes you have formulated. As appropriate, make any
necessary adjustments to your outcomes.
•
Step 3: Select and combine different types of activities to ensure variety, and make them all fit into the
time available.
