In-depth exploration
of adult learning
It may seem obvious that you are training adults. People who
study, research, or work occupy various adult roles, have full
social lives, their own areas of (growing) expertise, multiple
demands on their time, and fully-formed preferences as to how
they learn best. Adult participants build connections to new
concepts from what’s familiar to them and can share examples
that illustrate the new. What they might expect from a training is
different than what young children might expect from a teacher.
You want to assure them that you’ve designed the training with
adults in mind. But what exactly does that mean?
In-depth exploration of adult learning
Because of their preexisting knowledge, adult
learners are in昀氀uenced
more than taught.
